At Trends Studio we are constantly visiting the best design and decoration fairs to stay inspired and to share with you our impressions, discoveries and, of course, the new trends.

In recent weeks we have visited three fairs we love. Each of them has its own particularities, charm and strengths, and we want to tell you what our impressions were.

Maison & Objet in Paris has become a must-stop for professionals and lovers of decoration and interior design. Every year not only does its number of exhibitors grow, but it is also the birthplace of many of the trends for the spring-summer season. This fair, held twice a year, brought us a couple of surprises that we love.

One of the trends we discovered in Paris is the use of green marble. For a couple of seasons now we had seen marble setting the trend, but this year we came across this stone in a new shade, green, both for decorative objects and for small pieces of furniture. Another trend that stole all the attention, and that we had already previewed in our blog post ‘Eclectic tropics’, is tropical motifs: palm leaves and pineapples as patterns on fabrics or decorative objects, combined with gold, copper and pastels, a must of the season to have at home. Meanwhile, the trend for vintage industrial lamps in black, copper, brass or gold is gaining ground, as are lamps and decorative objects in wicker, raffia or fabric.

After Paris we stopped in Valencia to visit ‘Hábitat’. This fair, mainly devoted to furniture, is Spain’s showcase to the world, so it is an event we never miss. In addition, its ‘Salón Nude’ brings together designers, schools and entrepreneurs with a common interest: design. In this way, it brings young designers closer to the industry in a space that combines art, culture and values.

One of the trends we took away from ‘Hábitat’ is, without a doubt, combining several types of wood in the same room, something that is part of most of our work at ‘Trends’. This offers versatility and freedom when it comes to adapting spaces or making changes. A decorative object is no longer thought of as the standout element in a room, and the furniture itself takes center stage.

To end our little tour of fairs, we went to Frankfurt to visit ‘Ambiente-Messe’. This housewares fair is one of our favorites, as it lets us draw inspiration and play with spaces we have already created or are about to create, focus on those details that make such a difference and bring our favorites closer to you. This fair mainly responds to the most trendy needs of the moment: jugs for green juices, spiralizers for making vegetable spaghetti, food processors, bread makers and all those objects that are a must in your kitchen this season. Several exhibitors are suppliers we work with, so we were able to see first-hand the latest housewares that Bodum, Asa, WMF, Alessi and KitchenAid are offering this season.

With all these new trends, shades, textures and materials in our heads, we landed back in Palma more inspired than ever and as motivated as always to continue with our ‘Trends’ interior design projects.
