At Trends we have been following the work of Smeg for several years now. Founded in 1948 by Vittorio Bertazzoni, this Italian brand is without a doubt a benchmark when it comes to turning household appliances into icons of style, innovation, design and Italian elegance.

And if there is one thing that has won us over throughout the brand’s history, it is precisely this ability to turn such functional objects as an oven, a cooker, a fridge, a coffee machine or a dishwasher into a must on our wish list.

The purpose of household appliances is to deliver high, effective performance and to meet the customer’s expectations, and these needs usually take priority over design. What Smeg achieves perfectly is to create a more personal, intimate and comfortable atmosphere in the kitchen.

One of our favorite lines from the brand is ‘50’s retro style’. Besides their fridges, freezers, dishwashers and washing machines, a couple of years ago they moved into the world of small appliances. It is precisely this 1950s retro look of their small appliances that we want to highlight above anything else from the brand: these objects blend organically into your kitchen, adding a unique, unmatched touch of style. Their compact, rounded shapes are the result of a collaboration with the architects Matteo Bazzicalupo and Raffaella Mangiarotti of http://www.deepdesign.it and, ever since they went on sale, they have brought personality and style to kitchens all over the world.

Under the name ‘Sabor del diseño’ you will find toasters, kettles, stand mixers, blenders and food processors in shades that captivate us every time we embark on an interior design project. Because if there is one thing we can tell you, it is that a little of the past always gives a fuller picture of the present and the future. We believe that playing with time is as important as playing with textures, shades and sizes in a space.

Paradoxically, a vintage object like this one gives the kitchen renewed energy, and thanks to their shape these objects are quite easy to combine and adapt to the style of your kitchen.

We invite you to play in your kitchen, to move objects around and to update the larger appliances: thanks to small details, such as Smeg’s small appliances, some spaces can be given a complete 180-degree turn.
