Orient, Serra de Tramuntana. Mallorca.
20 November
As beautiful as it gets, the location of this house in Orient offered enough inspiration to get this project going. What were we doing? A safe place, a hide-away, a second residency. Even if this house is located near the Tramuntana, the construction is not rustic, it’s actually very modern.
Our job was to re-furbish this house from head to toes. And we used the surroundings at our advantage. We used the modern look of the house and mixed it with more rustic elements. In the exterior we used materials such as holm oak and different woods to transmit the ‘Tramuntana’ feeling. The natural light also played a big part in the decision of which elements, materials and objects we chose.
Inside we played with cold materials such as crystal, metal, white and black in opposition to the wooden floors and the general structure of the house. We payed full attention to details in the living area, where the fireplace became the meeting point. In the living room we have installed at the ‘form’ tv cabinet from OHouse, lacquered in white and solid wood. We also chose the turtle coffee table by Universo Positivo and many complements in black, such as vases and other decorating objects.
In the dining room we decided to go with the Deneb crystal and white dining table by Stua which we decided to combine with the master chairs by Kartell in black designed by Philipp Starck.
